The public is invited to Pasadena’s free Fiestas Patrias celebration, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Villa-Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St.
This cultural festival commemorates 18 Latin American countries’ historic independence from Spain, including Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The event is sponsored by the city’s human services and recreation department.
The family celebration highlights the colors, richness, and warmth of Latin America culture. Enjoy live music and dance performances by Ignacio Hernandez y su Mariachi; Ballet Folklorico Nahuatzen, and the Aztec dance group, Yankuititl, all in traditional clothing from various Latin American countries.
Other activities include crowning of a new Fiestas Patrias Queen by city officials, children’s art activities, live music, and entertainment. Food will be available on site for sale. We hope to see you there!
