Two Family Hikes and Campouts were held this summer in Canyon Park. The staff at the park worked hard to make these very successful events. The participants were treated to a BBQ hosted by city staff, enjoyed a campfire (complete with s’mores), and listened to stories from Elizabeth Schneider, the city’s youth librarian. There was even a night hike along the trail to the waterfall. The overnight campout concluded with a pancake and sausage breakfast prepared by Monrovia Firefighters.
Because of the popularity of the event (both were sold out and had waiting lists), the city has organized two additional campout events that will be offered in the fall.
