How many people are currently homeless in Pasadena? How many of them are families, youth, or veterans?
The answers to these questions and more were answered by Pasadena Partnership “point-in-time counts.”
This count, called the Homeless Count & Subpopulation Survey, provides a snapshot of homelessness in our community on one day. The count included people who are both temporarily sheltered (e.g. emergency shelters and transitional housing) and unsheltered.
Point-in-time counts establish the dimensions of the problem of homelessness in our community and help authorities to plan services and programs to appropriately address local needs.
The 2016 Homeless Count was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 and found 530 homeless persons in the City of Pasadena. This year’s count showed a 56 percent decrease in homelessness since 2011.
