The Arcadia Police Foundation, established in 2015, is focusing their efforts to try and create and maintain an Arcadia Police K-9 Unit.

The Arcadia Police Foundation is seeking the public’s assistance in completing this monumental first project. In addition to the approximate $10,000 purchase price of the police dog, the K-9s and their handlers require extensive and expensive specialized training.

There is also a need to special equipment such as K-9 bite suits, bite sleeves, muzzles, collars, K-9 ballistic vests, etc. Specialized vehicle equipment upgrades, including rear-seat modification, heat alarm, and cooling system are also required. Some veterinary costs are pre-determined, others can vary.

The total cost of launching the K-9 unit with one dog is expected to be $50,000. Once established, the goal is to acquire a second dog and to maintain the financial support of both units.

The K-9 units will be funded by the Arcadia Police Foundation, which will be funded solely through donations.
