Have we become so obsessed with “political correctness” to the point of extending that sensitivity to our portrayal of criminals? Remember when defacing private or public property was a crime classified as vandalism and those criminals were called vandals? Well, now they are “graffiti taggers.” That sounds so much more genteel! Yes, I must admit that if I myself went around defacing other people’s property, I’d much prefer to have my idle stupidity politely described as “graffiti tagging,” rather than by the penal code’s harsh-sounding “felony vandalism.”
