Four companies are vying for the contract to run the Friday Night Family Street Fair. In the last few week, city staff along with Mayor Pro Tem Larry Spicer and Councilmember Becky Shelvin conducted interviews with the firms under consideration: Raw Inspiration, Greenleaf, Coastal Pacific, and LA PartyWorks.
As a part of the assessment process, staff along with the council members, will conduct site visits to the locations of the farmers’ markets conducted by these companies. It should be noted that at this time LA PartyWorks does not operate a farmers’ market or street fair, and when asked if the company currently had a similar type of event that it wished to have visited, the company’s representative declined the opportunity for this additional assessment. Those conducting the assessment are already familiar with GreenLeaf as that firm is currently running Monrovia’s event.
According to City Manager Oliver Chi, when these site visits are completed, the “assessment team” will meet with the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board and the Street Fair Oversight Committee. This whole matter will be brought back to the entire city council for review on May 17.
