Dear Editor: Response to ‘Measure A Makes Waves’

Dear Editor:

In response to the article “Measure A Makes Waves” in the Feb. 25 issue: As a curious citizen I have a question. Sterling Contreras, Pasadena TeaPAC office manager, states that Arcadia’s city manager makes more than the Joint Chief of Staff for the US military. He goes on to say Mr. Lazzaretto “earned $206,725.14 in salary and $290,362.91 total with benefits. In 2014, the Joint Chief of Staff earned $253,772.40 NOT including additional allowances”. Where is the equality in that comparison? The article needs to compare apples-to-apples. I would like to know what the Joint Chief of Staff earned INCLUDING additional allowances, because if just comparing salaries, he makes $47,000 MORE per year than Mr. Lazzaretto.
