A new outdoor yoga class will be offered at Monrovia’s Station Square when the long-awaited Gold Line train service begins in March 2016.
“Sunrise Yoga” will be offered Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. beginning March 23 as part of a pilot project designed by the City of Monrovia and yoga instructor Elise Alvarez. Class participants will gather at the amphitheater at Station Square (northwest corner of Myrtle Avenue and Duarte Road). Price is $10 per class for nine-week session plus administrative fees.
The classes are designed for all levels and will feature yoga asanas (physical practices), pranayama (breathing exercises), acu-yoga and mudras (using your own hands to heal yourself), meditation, and relaxation techniques. Classes will help participants realize the power of a few fresh breaths and gentle movement in the open air.
Classes will be appropriate for business people, commuters, students before school, and the community at large.
