On Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., First Presbyterian Church Monrovia will present a screening of the epic American 1925 silent movie “Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ” starring Ramon Novarro, with a live pipe organ score by Randy Woltz. Woltz is a multi-talented musician from Orange County – organist, composer, and a member of the American Guild of Organists. The silent movie classic should be entertaining and inspiring for the whole family!
Judah Ben-Hur is a Judean Prince and boyhood friend of the powerful and corrupt Roman Tribune, Messala. Separated from his family and made a slave, Ben-Hur unknowingly encounters Jesus, eventually bests Messala in a climactic chariot race, and is reunited with his mother and sister who are suffering from leprosy.
