Each spring, Monrovia Reads holds a fundraising dinner to support its programs to promote literacy in the community. This year the nonprofit organization will hold its dinner on March 2, the night before its biannual Read Across Monrovia event. The dinner, as always, will be held at and with the very generous support of the Doubletree Hotel in Monrovia.
The social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner service starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $50 per person. Tickets are available from members of the board of Monrovia Reads with reservations for purchasing tickets at the door available by calling Diane Delmatoff at (626) 303-6600.
There are other ways to support the organization such as the silent and live auctions that evening as well as an opportunity drawing. And the goodies available are wonderful, including a stay at the Doubletree, a basketful of gift certificates from various local merchants, and, of course, cookies from Monrovia Reads’ founding president, Joanne Spring.
Monrovia Reads supports tutors in Monrovia schools as well as at the Library, assists with the funding of the Monrovia Reads and Plays Van, gives away thousands of books every year as well as supporting other literacy related efforts (now including scholarships to high school seniors). This is one of the few opportunities to support this private, non-profit organization.
