Over the weekend, adidas Skateboarding celebrated its forthcoming shoe release, and latest installment in the Respect Your Roots tribute series, with a photo exhibition at Fairfax’s Known Gallery commemorating Skin Phillips— beloved skateboard photographer and the authority who set the standard in photographing street and vert styles. Skin has produced timeless images of skateboarding greats, not excluding the likes of innovators Tony Hawk and Mark Gonzalez.
With much appreciation for Skin’s involvement in the culture — acting as a vital eye behind the lens for several decades, as well as former Editor-in-Chief of TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine — adidas graced the early era photo legend with a personalized special edition adidas Skate sneaker.
The classic adidas Skate sillohuete is set off with a number of discreet Skin Phillip- infused adjustments, and will be available through the company’s website later this month. See images of the shoe, get a taste of Saturday’s exhibition and check out a short film about Skin, below .
