At approximately 1 a.m. Saturday a sole arsonist smashed a window at a water store at 1677 Washington Blvd in Pasadena. He then threw gasoline into the business and ignited it, according to Lisa Derderian, Pasadena Fire PIO. There is a suspect in custody for attempted murder since he threatened the store owners before committing arson.
Two people were in a house behind the store at the time and escaped unharmed. The investigation is ongoing and motive unclear. Karnik Kendirian, 48, is accused of attempted murder and arson after using gasoline to set fire to SoCal Water, Pasadena police and fire officials said.
The suspect showed up at the business, which has a residence where a man and woman were inside, at about 1:20 a.m.
