Celebrate Water Conservation at Crescent Farm on Saturday, Oct. 17

Meet the water farmers who are creating the water-efficient Crescent Farm, located in the heart of the Los Angeles Arboretum. They will lead tours and talks on Saturday, Oct. 17, to share their techniques and plant choices with you.  Join them to learn about lawn alternatives, dry land orchards, capturing rain to be ready for El Nino, efficient irrigation and mulching. You will leave knowing what to do to save water in your home garden and how to do-it-yourself. Children and family activities include making seed balls, rain sticks and mosaic stepping stones for Crescent Farm. Kids will learn about the water cycle on a special walking tour and they can take a water pledge. Plants featured in Crescent Farm will be on sale. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. General admission is $9 to $4 and Arboretum members get in free. The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden is located at 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia. For more information, visit www.arboretum.org or call (626) 821-3222.
