On Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Chairman Jerome E. Horton will host a free Valley Glen Business Resource Seminar and Expo to provide businesses with information about millions of dollars in tax credits and exemptions, tax refunds, and business loan assistance. Attendees will learn from presentations on basic sales and use tax, recordkeeping for small businesses, how to access capital, employee vs. independent contractor, tips for business success, forms of ownership, and preparing sales and use tax returns.
“I highly recommend that local business owners come to our seminar on September 4th. There will be information on a wide array of state and federal resources and services available to California businesses,” Chairman Horton said.
The seminar will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Valley College, Monarch Hall, 5800 Fulton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 91401. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. Free parking is available; enter on Ethel Avenue to access the parking structure. You may register for the seminar online or by calling 1-888-847-9652.
Senator Robert M. Hertzberg, Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Councilmember Paul Krekorian, Universal City/North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Center, and Los Angeles Valley College are co-sponsoring this seminar. They are encouraging local entrepreneurs to attend and make the most of this opportunity that could help them expand and maintain their businesses.
