On Thursday, Aug 13, 2015 between 1 and 3 p.m., an elderly victim was entering his car after leaving the Ralph’s Market on Huntington Drive and Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia, when a suspect entered the car on the passenger side. The suspect claimed to work for a car manufacturer and told the victim he noticed a problem with his car door. The suspect said he could fix the door for a cash payment. The suspect reached under the dash and pulled out a “black chip” which he then replaced, claiming to fix the car. The victim drove to a nearby bank with the suspect, withdrew the money, and paid the suspect. The victim then dropped the suspect off in the market parking lot.
The suspect is described as a male, unknown race, about 50 years old, 5’7″, medium build, and spoke with a foreign, possibly Middle Eastern, accent.
