On Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at approximately 3 a.m., the Arcadia Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the 700 block of Fairview Avenue in the City of Arcadia. Nearly 20 firefighters responded to the scene; including fire crews on Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105, with units from Pasadena and Los Angeles County Fire Departments.

Upon arrival, firefighters witnessed smoke visible from the attic and a second story unit. Firefighters took immediate action to suppress the fire, ventilate the structure, and initiate search and rescue operations. Arcadia Police Department assisted with evacuation measures.

The fire, which began in a kitchen wall, was contained to the unit of origin, an adjacent unit, and the attic. Investigators on scene determined the cause of the fire was accidental in nature and remains under investigation at the time of this release. Two units were damaged as a result of the fire, with an estimated fire loss of $3,000 in contents and $14,000 to the structure.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury during suppression activities. No civilians were injured as a result of this incident.
