Registered Yoga Instructor Monica Heim has a dream. She wants to create an annual Yoga Festival in the San Gabriel Valley. As her first step toward making that happen, she has united fellow instructors at the Foothill Gym to lead a one-day Yoga Retreat at the Canyon Park Cabin 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.
“After attending the wonderful Hanuman Yoga Festival in Boulder, Colorado I was inspired to establish a Yoga Festival on our side of Los Angeles County,” explained Heim. “After a long conversation with a staff member at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, where the Southern Renaissance Faire is held each year, I realized I needed to start small and build from there. I am so excited about our upcoming Yoga Retreat right here in Monrovia! I hope we get a big group for our inaugural event.”
Exploring the power of intention the retreat will include vinyasas (yoga flow), asanas (yoga poses), a leisurely walking meditation, a balance practice, mudras (yoga healers in the hands), chanting and yoga nidra (yoga sleep). Participating as instructors are Betsy Laban, Candyce Columbus, Elise Alvarez and Gina Thrane.
The advanced purchase fee is $50 ($75 at the door). Space is limited to paid reservations. Please reserve by Aug. 22, 2015.
