

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that occurred in the 8500 block of Olney Street in unincorporated Pasadena.
Detectives have learned that Temple Station deputies responded to a “vehicle fire” call. When deputies arrived at the location they observed a pick-up truck engulfed in flames. As they extinguished the fire they saw an unresponsive man sitting in the front driver’s seat and immediately removed him to safety. When the victim was out of the vehicle they discovered that he was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A firearm was located inside the vehicle by deputies.
Homicide and Arson/Explosives detectives are investigating the cause of the fire. They are not actively looking for a suspect(s).
The victim’s identity will be released at a later date by Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel.
