“PawFection” is a dog grooming daycare and overnight facility dedicated to providing pet parents with the peace of mind of knowing their pet is in good care. Dog lover Megan Hyman established the doggie daycare, which is conveniently located off the 210 Freeway in Pasadena, in 2013. The pet salon, which welcomes any type of dog breed, offers head-to-toe grooming needs such as baths, haircuts, nail clipping, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, flea prevention and show dog hand-striping. Pet parents can also find healthy food choices, treats, fun dog toys, and accessories such as collars, leashes, and harnesses during their visits to the doggie daycare.
Hyman’s love for dogs has been a part of her life since childhood. Growing up, the owner would often rescue dogs alongside her mother who was also very fond of the furry friends. Together, the two shared the dream of one day opening a facility for dogs. After Hyman’s mother passed away in 2010, she did everything in her power to pursue that dream in memory of her mother, and, in April 2013, she opened PawFection. With more than ten years of professional dog grooming experience, the certified dog trainer has proven able to tend to all of her customers’ dog grooming needs.

One of PawFection’s core values lies in its dedication to building a relationship with every dog’s owner. “We really try to get to know the pet parents, which is really nice because everyone becomes like family,” said Hyman. Another core value of the company is to keep it simple. For example, rather than TVs and luxury spas, the doggie daycare fills its vast amount of space with practical dog beds, mats, and toys.
One of the major challenges comes when pet parents vaguely express a specific cut they want replicating a previous cut from a different salon. Being that same hair cut terms differ among grooming salons, it can be difficult to replicate a previous cut from another salon. “Many dog owners bring in their dog expecting to get the exact same cut they got somewhere else without explaining in detail what they want,” said Hyman. In order to solve this problem, the owner searches images or asks the customers to bring in their own photos. Once a cut is selected, PawFection is able to reproduce the style for their furry friends, leaving pet parents happy.

Hyman’s vision for PawFection is to open a location in the Inland Empire, specifically where the 210 Freeway meets the 15 Freeway. “There’s a great shopping center off the freeway that would be perfect for pet parents who are on their way to Vegas,” said the owner. Even more specifically, Hyman would like to open a PawFection in the heart of Vegas to allow pet parents to travel with their furry babies with the convenience of dropping them off at PawFection whenever they’d like.
