A 3-year-old girl died in Pomona on Father’s Day afternoon after she was left in the family car, police officials said.
The child’s family called 911 after Kiara Li was found unconscious in the vehicle just before 5 p.m. Sunday, Pomona police officials said in a statement.
Police and fire personnel were called to the home on Rancho Jurupa Place. Paramedics took Kiara to Pomona Valley Hospital where she later died.
Investigators learned the family had been out together before she was discovered. When they arrived home, police say her parents and other siblings thought the girl had gotten out of the car along with everyone else.
“Our initial findings are consistent with this incident being a tragic accident,” said a police statement.
An autopsy and additional information related to this incident are still pending.
