

Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou to Highlight US-Taiwan, Cross-Strait Relations in Upcoming Video Conference in Los Angeles
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles (TECO-LA), together with the UCLA Asia Institute and the UCLA Burkle Center, will host a live video conference with President Ma Ying-jeou of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Tuesday, June 2 with a moderated discussion afterward. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the video broadcast will begin at 6:00 p.m. Taiwan Academy, a space established by the Ministry of Culture, will serve as the location.
The video conference will feature remarks by President Ma Ying-jeou, focusing on Taiwan’s relationship with the US, Japan, and China. He will also be highlighting the 70th anniversary of the Chinese war effort during World War II. The conference will include questions and commentary from Stanford-based scholars William Perry, Larry Diamond, and Lanhee Chen. When the video broadcast concludes, Professor R. Bin Wong, Director of the UCLA Asia Institute, will moderate a lively discussion about the video conference between Jeffrey Wasserstrom, Professor of History at UC Irvine and David Kang, Professor of International Relations and Business at USC.
