William Boyer, PIO for the city of Pasadena confirmed with Beacon Media Friday that the city will look into campaign mailers that Jacque Robinson posted to voters in her district.
The reason the city has got involved is that the mailers depict firefighters and a police officer in uniform, which is directly against city policy and state campaigning laws.
The city will investigate two campaign mailers and City Manager Michael Beck will decide what to do after the investigation is complete.
A memo from city manager Beck to all city employees and officers ( Nov. 6, 2014) expressly states that “ No officer or employee shall participate in any political activity during working hours…” Additionally, “ no officer or employee shall participate in any political activity while in city uniform.(Govmt Code 3206)
Jacque Robinson, a city councilwoman for District 1, is endorsed by the Pasadena police officers and firefighters unions.
