Alhambra police said that more than a dozen people were injured after a suspected drunk driver hit two parked vehicles, which sent one of the vehicles into pedestrians watching a Christmas display at a home Sunday night.
Alhambra PD said a 27-year-old woman was in critical condition at a hospital on Monday. The driver, Ismael Soto, 28, of Los Angeles was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. Soto also sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The accident was at the 300 block of South Fremont Avenue around 8:30pm.
A red truck northbound on Fremont Avenue crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with two parked vehicles that were occupied. One of those vehicles hit then struck several pedestrians on the sidewalk.
The pedestrians and vehicles’ occupants were watching a Christmas light display at a house.
The 13 injured included Soto, eight people in the vehicles hit, and four pedestrians.
Soto is being held at Alhambra Superior Court on $130,000 bail. Soto was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at Alhambra Superior Court.
