The Christian Science Church in Arcadia, at 620 S. 1st Avenue, is celebrating 100 years of serving the community with several Bible-focused activities during the month of January, 2015. A public open house, featuring “The History of the English Bible” exhibit, as well as music and sing-alongs with singer and musician Joan Enquita, are happening on Saturday, January 10, from 1 to 4 pm. Historical details of the church’s 100 year history in Arcadia will also be on display.
Then, come hear a talk on “The Healing Power of the Bible,” given by Christian Science practitioner and teacher Elise Moore on Sunday, January 25, at 2:00 pm in the church edifice. Mrs. Moore is from Nashville, TN, and speaks to interfaith audiences worldwide. The community is welcome to attend all of these events.
The English Bible exhibit is available for viewing at the church during the entire month of January, Tuesday through Saturday from 12 to 4 pm and on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm. This Bible exhibit originated with the Christian Science Church of Pasadena to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible translation and its own church centennial. A much smaller version of the Bible exhibit and church history is also on display at the Arcadia Public Library in January.
