Pregnant Woman Shot in South El Monte Tuesday gives birth

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Temple Station, is currently investigating the shooting of a woman on the 1900 block of Merced Avenue, South El Monte Tuesday at approximately 10PM.

The adult victim, who was 7 months pregnant, was in the driveway of the location when unknown suspect(s) approached and fired several rounds at the victim. The pregnant woman was struck multiple times.

The suspect (s) fled the scene in a dark colored sedan.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where her baby was successfully delivered and in fair condition. The mother’s condition is unknown at this time.

The crime scene is still active and the investigation is ongoing.
