Gary C.K. Huang, President of Rotary International, will be visiting Los Angeles to attend the Rotary International reception as the Keynote speaker on August 8. Mr. Huang has the distinct honor of being the first Taiwanese president of Rotary International in its 109 year history.

With 1.2 million members, Rotary International is one of the largest and oldest Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the world. Rotary International takes leadership role on important global issues.

Though having been denied admittance to the Taipei Rotary Club three times, Mr. Huang never gave up and finally became a Rotarian in 1976. He is also the first Rotary International vice-president from a non-English speaking country in Asia; there has only two vice-presidents, both from the Philippines before him. Furthermore, he rose to the top leadership position gaining the Rotary International presidency last month.

As head of Rotary International, Mr. Huang has dedicated his efforts to developing membership throughout Asia by setting a recruitment goal of 100 new donor-foundations in Taiwan to help celebrate Rotary’s centennial. His accomplishments added more than $2 million to the foundation’s annual fund.

At the upcoming Rotary International reception, he will talk about the vision for the 2014-2015 Rotary year, and his presidential theme “Light Up Rotary”, which encourages members to brighten Rotary’s image to the public. Mr. Huang believes this in return will improve membership recruitment and retention. He will also share his values, business experiences and life as Rotarian. U.S. Representative Ed Royce, a long-time friend of Mr. Huang, will be the event’s guest speaker.
The reception will be held from 12:00PM to 2:00PM on August 8 at Diamond Bar Golf Course, 22751 Golden Springs Drive, Diamond Bar, CA 91765.
