Arcadia Police Officers responded to Macy’s last week at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft investigation. A female subject has concealed merchandise inside her purse and left the store without making payment. As a Macy’s loss prevention officer attempted to detain the suspect, the suspect resisted and a struggle ensued for the purse that contained the stolen items. During the struggle for the purse, the suspect’s shirt and bra came off. The 45-year-old Asian female ran to her car and left behind her purse, shirt and bra. The suspect’s driver’s license was found inside her purse and a witness recorded the license plate number as the suspect fled the location in a vehicle.
The case was investigated by Arcadia Detectives and presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for review. The DA’s Office filed one felony count of Penal Code 666, petty theft with a prior conviction and issued a warrant for the arrest of Jeannie Hua of Alhambra.
On July 28, 2014, Jeannie Hua surrendered to the Arcadia City Jail. She was booked and released on $20,000 bail.
