

Gunman and one victim Identified in Saturday’s shooting rampage
Coroner’s official have identified one of three victims of Saturday afternoon’s shooting rampage in NW Pasadena.
Maria Teresa Aguiar, 59, was one of the three killed in the rampage. Two men were also killed have not yet been identified. Another man and woman were shot but their injuries considered not life threatening.
The alleged shooter, John Izael Smith, 44, was arrested after a standoff with police and was in jail with bail set at $1 million, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The rampage began about 4:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of Summit Avenue according to a initial report. Police said the gunman chased two people down the street, fatally shooting one and wounding the other. Then a neighbor, whom police dubbed a “good Samaritan,” was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith allegedly opened fire on police after shooting Aguiar and others, took a few shots at a police officer and then and barricaded himself in a home before being persuaded to surrender by a 911 dispatcher in Pasadena.
