For over 40 years the Arcadia Meals on Wheels program has been responding to the needs of its residents with loyal, dedicated volunteers delivering healthy, nutritious food. But they’re more than just a delivery service; they also bring peace of mind to families and clients knowing that almost every day someone will be in contact with the recipient, often establishing lasting friendships.
The program delivers meals Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) including a hot meal that features an entree and vegetable, and a lighter meal that includes a sandwich, fruit, beverage, and dessert. The two meals contain 1200 calories combined, and supply two thirds of the federal recommended nutritional daily allowance. Service costs a nominal daily fee of $5.50. Low sugar and salt diets can be accommodated upon request.
Many senior citizens find that Meals on Wheels can mean the difference between independent living and convalescent care. The service can be used for as little as two weeks or for as long as necessary.
