The article about “Carlin” ( Published Aug 1) highlights the need to get your cats and dogs the necessary shots for their protection against diseases. Dogs need a fenced yard and a gate will keep them safely enclosed, and cats should live indoors for their own safety.
Steve Hofstetter saved the little dog from a painful slow death in the street. He took him to an animal shelter where he did not have to suffer any more and had some dignity.
During the years I trapped, neutered and returned or placed feral and stray cats, they were always tested and received shots. I remember one kitten had a bad case of flea anemia and my vet at Whiskers to Tails in Pasadena treated and saved him from a fatal condition. He was almost lifeless.
Steve took the time to take care of little “Carlin” and he is a good example for anyone who claims to like animals. They’re voiceless and need us to help them.
