

Crews will be constructing grade crossing improvements at the intersection of 1st Ave and Santa Clara St in the City of Arcadia, as part of the 11.5-mile Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project. This work requires a full closure of the intersection at the railroad crossing through February 2014. Additionally, to construct the parking structure and transit plaza adjacent to the crossing, Front St between Santa Clara St and St. Joseph St will be permanently closing in September.
The intersection closure is scheduled to begin on September 9, 2013 and continue through the end of February 2014, for 24-hours per day, 7 days per week. (A temporary re-opening of the intersection is planned for a few days in late October and early November 2013).
Standard construction work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Occasional longer hours, work on Sundays and night work may be performed.
In September, Front St between Santa Clara St and St. Joseph St will be permanently closed.
The intersection of 1st Ave and Santa Clara St will be closed to thru-traffic at the railroad crossing for approximately six months.
Detour routes will be in place during the closure and signage will be posted to direct motorists.
Sidewalk access will be maintained open on one side of the street at all times.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.
During this construction activity, all businesses including those located on 1st Ave and Santa
Noise from construction equipment will be produced near the active work zones.
Watering equipment will be used to control dust.
