After a nearly year-long search, it looks like El Monte has found its new top administrator.
At Tuesday night’s meeting, council members approved a three-year, $195,000 contract to hire Raul Godinez II for the city’s top position. Godinez will begin July 15.
Godinez has served as executive director of public works in Santa Ana since 2009. He previously worked in public works in Oakland under then-Mayor Jerry Brown. Before that, he worked in the private sector in Los Angeles for more than a decade and served on the San Fernando City Council from 1994 to 1998.
