The Arcadia Firefighter’s annually participate in a fundraising event called St. Baldrick’s to help find a cure for pediatric cancer. St. Baldrick’s raises awareness and funding by encouraging volunteers to shave their heads. The AFFA has been partnering with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the City of Hope in Duarte to help encourage our local pediatric cancer patients and their families. This year we will be giving four children from the City of Hope Pediatric Ward a ride in our fire truck from the hospital to the St. Baldrick’s event. Upon our arrival, we give the shears over to the kids and let them shave our heads. It is a very touching and encouraging moment. The event has raised over $300,000 in the past ten years, and with your help they plan to raise more money than last year. The event is hosted at Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant located at 145 E. Huntington Dr. Arcadia, CA. -Courtesy Photo
