On November 1, 2012, at about 2:45 a.m. Pasadena Police and Pasadena Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1385 El Sereno Ave., a two-story residence. When police and fire personnel arrived they found the lower level engulfed by fire. The fire department extinguished the fire.

Preliminary information indicates the dwelling was occupied by 19 male adults and 16 were evacuated. Two residents are reported as deceased. Their next of kin have not been notified, therefore, their names will not be released. One additional resident was transported to the hospital by Pasadena Fire Department Paramedics.

The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced residents. Several of the residents are sheltered at Jackie Robinson Center until more permanent accommodations can be secured.

The Pasadena Fire Inspector requested assistance from Pasadena Police Detectives to help evaluate and determine if there was any criminal activity. The joint investigation is on-going.
