SANTA ANITA TO HOST BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT,
FOOTHILL UNITY CENTER TO HELP 2000 KIDS AUG. 19
Santa Anita Park announced today that it will provide its facility to Foothill Unity Center for its annual Back to School Distribution event on Thursday, Aug. 19, in the Top of the Stretch area.
Registration closes Friday for the event that will provide some 2,000 needy children from surrounding communities with new clothes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, etc. This and more will be provided by more than 40 vendors and local organizations.
Included among those “back-to-schoolers” receiving donations will be 122 children of backstretch workers, underscoring Santa Anita’s commitment to helping its own children in need, as well as those in proximity to The Great Race Place.
Attendees must be registered with the Foothill Unity Center in advance of Thursday’s event.
The Back to School presentation to the needy will begin at 10 a.m. in the Top of the Stretch area. Those working as volunteers will be served lunch following the event at Clockers’ Corner.
